Head Coach Josh Malave


Josh Malave is in his third season as head wrestling coach at the University of Mount Union.

Malave produced a national qualifier and three placers in the NCAA Mideast Regional while finishing fourth in the OAC in his first year as head coach. He also coached the OAC Wrestler of the Year and a pair of all-conference selections.

Malave was the head coach at Firelands High School in Oberlin, Ohio, for two years.  In his time at Firelands, he was the 2014-15 Lorain County Coach of the Year and the 2015-16 Patriot Atheltic Conference Coach of the Year leading the Falcons to Patroit Atheltic Conference Individual and Dual Meet titles in 2016 with a total of 13 district qualifiers.

He also spent one year as an assistant coach at Union Pines (N.C.) High School where the team won conference individual and dual meet titles while placing fifth in the state.

Malave is familiar with the Purple Raider program as he was a two-time national qualifier and 2012 All-American at Mount Union. Malave was a three-time All-OAC selection, two-time conference champion who was also a two-time Academic All-OAC and NWCA Scholar All-American selection. A two-time team captain, his 97 wins are still sixth best on the school's all-time wins list.

He is a native of Rocky River, Ohio, who attended Lutheran West High School.  He has a bachelor's degree in History from Mount Union and has a master's degree in Education Administration from Findlay.

He and his wife Jillian have two daughters.
